About Our Speakers:

Catherine Staes is the new Director of the Nursing Informatics Program at the University of Utah College of Nursing. Previously, she was faculty in the Department of Biomedical Informatics for 11 years.  Focused on clinical decision support and population and public health informatics but has a nursing background as well.

Laura Heermann Langford is a Nurse Informaticist at the Homer Warner Center for Informatics Research at Intermountain Healthcare and an Assistant Professor and immediate past Program Director of Nursing Informatics at the College of Nursing, University of Utah, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

UNIN was formed in 1996 to provide a network for healthcare informaticists in Utah and the Intermountain area.  Membership is open to all who have interest in the field of healthcare informatics.  Our membership represents many area health care institutions, universities, and businesses.

  • Increase visibility of publications and presentations among the group
  • Showcase member publications at meetings and in newsletter

  • Newsletter
  • Share announcements from AMIA, HIMSS.
  • Distribute calls for abstracts, dates for meetings, and similar announcements

3. Membership participation

  • Increase awareness among students and new employees
  • Reach outside of our current membership with communications
  • Explore funding options that will support broader participation
